State is used to build state data tables for country pages. It pulls defined starting information from a database and formats it in a standard way.

Parameter 1 must be the proper English localized name of the state, see list of state regions for all state names. Be aware that some states use ’
in their names, this cannot be substituted with '
.
Parameter 2 can be either a list of state status types or a list of core countries.
For state status, the following terms can be used:
- capital, claims, colony, incorporated, market capital, split state, treaty port, unincorporated
- These can be combined in a comma-separated list, such as
incorporated,split state
- They will be displayed vertically by the related icon in the listed order.
- Certain combinations should be avoided as redundant, namely:
capital,incorporated
market capital,incorporated
treaty port,unincorporated,split state
colony,unincorporated,split state

For 'cores', list countries with their default name and capitalization (see countries), as a comma-separated list. If a state is the defined capital for a country, suffix the country's name with _c
. For example,
Nicaragua_c,Central America
The claims icon can be added to a core list also, but must be placed last in the comma-separated list.
Usage
This template must be used within a table. It fits into the standard state data table as follows:

Each state in the table requires its own use of the template in a new row. The number of columns generated by the template depends on the usage of the region parameter and how many resources are given to the third parameter.
