Belgium is an  minor power in in western Europe. It borders the 尼德兰 to the north, 普鲁士 and 卢森堡 to the east, 法兰西 to the south and the English Channel to the west. Belgium is one of the recommended countries for the Learn the Game objective along with 瑞典, 智利 and 波斯.

Historical background

After the Belgian Revolution, Belgium became independent of the 尼德兰 in 1830. After independence, a parliamentary monarchy was established under King Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Interest groups

Due to Belgium's general lack of historical IG leaders and its  Wealth Voting law, the starting interest groups  in government can vary. Typically, the starting interest groups in government include two or three of the Intelligentsia, Landowners, Catholic Church, or the Petite Bourgeoisie; occasionally, the Armed Forces are in government also. The Intelligentsia and Industrialists are typically members of or want to join the Liberal Party; while the Catholic Church and Petite Bourgeoisie are almost always members of the Catholic Party; the Landowners and Armed Forces also often join the Catholic Party.

 In opposition, the Rural Folk are nearly always in the Agrarian Party; the Industrialists are also typically in opposition, either as members of the Liberal Party or the Free Trade Party.
