Ethiopia is in the midst of the Age of Princes. The Emperor in Gondar has no effective power and local rulers divide the country between themselves. Will the empire ever be reunited?
Ethiopia is a formable nation in the eastern Africa. It can be formed by any nation with an Oriental Orthodox Ethiopian primary culture (Amhara, Oromo, Tigray).
Historical background
In 1836, Ethiopia was in the midst of the Zemene Mesafint, or "Age of Princes". While de jure a unified empire, the emperor of Ethiopia exerted no real influence, and the local princes held the actual authority over each region. This era came to an end with the rise of Tewodros II, who usurped the title of emperor in 1855, then reasserted its power by subduing the neighboring princes by force; however, he was not able to fully unify Ethiopia under his control. Full unification was accomplished under Emperor Menelik II, who expanded his empire from the core of Ethiopia in Gonder and Shewa to approximately the modern borders.
Ethiopia was the only part of Africa not to fall under European colonization, though it was occupied by Italy leading up to and during World War II.
Formation
Ethiopia can be formed by the following nations when they control at least two of its four core states. These countries can also use the File:Wargoal annex country.png Unify Ethiopia diplomatic play against the others.

If Ethiopia is formed by a Sunni country, its state religion remains Sunni instead of the default
Oriental Orthodox.
None of the above countries are releasable; however, Ethiopia is, and can be released by any country which controls its capital, Gonder.
Forming Ethiopia grants the achievement, Solomon's Quest.
Core states
Ethiopia has four core states, comprising the Ethiopia strategic region minus the state of Somaliland. These also comprise the homelands of its primary cultures.
Ethiopia's core states are generally resource poor, having no access to mined resources, except a small amount of iron and
oil. Agriculture is the main resource for Ethiopia, with a large amount of
arable land and several types of plantations available.
