Politics
Lanfang is a Republic, a rarity in Asia, based on the Presidential Republic and
Census Suffrage laws. The Primary Culture Primary Culture is Hakka, one of the Chinese cultures. All other Chinese cultures are
Accepted Cultures, due to the
Cultural Exclusion law.
Hakka is a minority in the country, making up 35.2% of the population. The two other cultures; Bornean and Dayak make up 43.4% and 21.3% respectively. On top of that, the Bornean Pops are all Sunni Muslims, and Dayak is split between

Interest groups
Lanfang's sitting president, Tiaji Liu, belongs to the Petite Bourgeoisie which is the sole interest group in
in government. There are however no Pops belonging to the Petite Bourgeoisie at all, and the government has a
legitimacy of 0. The
Landowners and
Mahayana Monks makes up the Conservative Party; the
Armed Forces are in the patriotic party. Along with the
Industrialists they make up the opposition.
Diplomacy
Lanfang is a Protectorate of Great Qing, who they have
cordial relations with.
It has no additional interests, so Borneo is the only place it can conduct diplomacy.

Industry and Resources
Lanfang has only three buildings: a port, some barracks, and the gold fields of Borneo. The entire productive economy is based on those gold fields: Gold is highly profitable business, and thus Lanfang has a high standard of living at the start of the game. With time, more gold fields will be discovered.
The state trait Borneo Rainforest gives a throughput bonus to hardwood.
Military
Lanfang has the Peasant Levies army law.
Lanfang starts with 3 Battalions but cannot call any Conscripts. The battalions are all using the most basic production method:
Irregular Infantry, File:Method infantry focus.png Infantry Focus, File:Method cavalry scouts.png Cavalry Scouts, File:Method standardized infantry.png Standardized Infantry, and
Wound Dressing.
Lanfang has no Flotillas, but they have the potential to build them in their Capital state.
Strategies and guides

Gold and Chinese migrants
A lot of Lanfang's early success is based on pure luck, unfortunately: How often more gold is discovered, and how often gold fields run dry. Especially as long as Lanfang only has one or two gold fields. Whenever a gold field runs dry, it should be an immediate priority to build a gold mine to replace it. Prioritizing Production technology which improves mining production methods is a good idea.
Lanfang has a very positive budget due to the minting from gold fields. In all honesty, it actually has a hard time to spend all the money, if it does not create a construction sector. If a construction sector is built, it will however be too expensive to maintain. It is a good idea to build one temporarily and let it run as long as possible, and then demolish it. Once the budget has recovered, which it eventually will do, the construction sector can be rebuild. This can be done again and again, until Lanfang can actually finance it permanently.
As Lanfang starts with the Closed Borders law, no Chinese can immigrate there. It should be an immediate priority to change the law to any other migration law. Chinese immigration is an unending source of pops to work in the gold fields.
Diplomacy and conquest
The 荷属东印度 especially, and the rest of the European powers, are an existential threat. Being a Chinese protectorate is not an adequate safety measure. Firstly, they might not prioritize coming to your defence at all, secondly they are geographically much farther away than the DEI, and thirdly they have plenty of issues on their own with the Opium Wars. Immidiately, Lanfang should improve relations with Dutch East Indies and
大不列颠, followed by
葡萄牙,
尼德兰 proper,
西班牙 and
法兰西. This is the top priority and all available
Influence should go towards this.
In terms of Conquest the two first priorities are 没有结果, immidiately followed by 文莱. Sintang is the same state as Lanfang, and very soon more
gold will be discovered in North Borneo. They do not have anyone to come to their defence, and Lanfang can beat them one-on-one.
Afterwards one should conquer the rest of the independent Bornean nations. Later one can attack South East Asian nations such as
暹罗 or
亚齐. Later, it is possible to match DEI or Spanish
菲律宾, since Lanfang will grow much quicker than them.
The Chinese market
Unfornately, Great Qing has many problems to see to. It is not uncommon to experience long periods, where Lanfang is completely isolated either due to enemies raiding convoys or because China cannot or choose not to finance enough ports. Lanfang are completely insignificant to China (along with all other of China's overseas possessions for that matter), but China is crucial for Lanfang. It is advised to suffer through these periods, simply because the flow of chinese immigrants (and wares) are simply too important.
When developing the economy, Lanfang should strike a difficult balance between catering to the Chinese market while securing state-by-state self-sufficiency. Building logging camps and some kind of agriculture early is a priority.
Achievements

When all required states are incorporated, the country is renamed to Bo-Ni.
